If Serena Williams was worried about how her 6-year-old daughter Olympia would react to her baby sister’s birth, then all her fears have been alleviated. The tennis champion revealed that Olympia “loves” being a big sister to 2-month-old Adira, and she shared the sweet nickname the little girl gave her sister.
Olympia ‘Loves’ Being a Big Sister
At the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards, where Williams was honored with the Fashion Icon Award, she opened up about her daughters, who she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian.
“She’s navigating it. She loves it,” Williams told Entertainment Tonight about how Olympia is handling being a big sister. She also shared the precious nickname Olympia has for her: “Adira’s like a tiny little baby, so Olympia just calls her her little sis.”
“Little sis”?! I love it! It shows ownership and love — she’s proud to call the baby her own, and it’s so freakin’ cute.
Serena Williams Was ‘Worried’ Before Adira Was Born
In the interview, Williams revealed that Olympia “prayed for a sister,” which is so sweet. (When the couple did their sex reveal, you could see how excited Olympia was to have another little girl in the family.)
But while Olympia was always excited for a baby sister, Williams herself was a little nervous. “I was worried. I was like, ‘OK, I don’t know if I can like anyone as much as I love Olympia,’” she said. Haven’t all moms of multiple kids felt that way at some point? I know I have!
“I was really nervous about that. But I feel like it all worked out,” she added.
